UPCOMING EVENTS
Humane Education Workshop next weekend! - seats still available
This workshop is a great opportunity to learn new strategies for advocating for animals, deepen understanding of the connections between animal exploitation and other justice and issues, gain ideas for  talking to young people about social change, and meet and network with like-minded people!
Financial aid is available so please don't hesitate because it seems too expensive!

The International Institute for Humane Education (IIHE) will be holding a 'Sowing Seeds' humane education workshop for the first time in Vancouver on July 15-16, 2006 at the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) located at 2150 Maple Street, Vancouver, BC.

Humane education is a field of study that examines the connections between issues such animal rights/welfare, human rights, ecological degradation, and consumerism. The Sowing Seeds workshop will teach participants how to engage others in making positive choices on behalf of people, animals and the Earth and to find solutions to pervasive global problems.

Registration is $255
Student Fee is $81

SAFE's president, Marianne Verigin, will be a guest speaker at Earthsave Canada's next vegan potluck

Topic: Community Involvement for Earthsave Members
Admission: free to members, $3 for non-members -- all are welcome!
Bring: vegan dish, enough for 8 servings with serving utensil, ingredient list & your own eating dishes & cutlery.

Marianne is the Founder and President of The Society for Animal Freedom and Equality (SAFE). SAFE is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting animals from human exploitation. SAFE's focus is on stimulating a shift in human perceptions towards seeing all living beings as equally valuable and deserving of a free life. Evan is an active Earthsave volunteer and member of Vancouver Area Foods Not Bombs. A small collective of people of all ages from all over the Lower Mainland who work together gathering food from groceries from all over Vancouver for free who then get together on Saturday afternoons, prepare the food, and serve it in downtown East Vancouver.

Evan and Marianne will be discussing these organizations and ways in which we can get involved.

Each potluck features prizes for best home-made vegan dishes, raffle, book/merchandise/membership table & sponsor table.
